Since 2004, Atria’s rigorous Quality Enhancement program ensures life at our communities reflects the highest standards in the industry.
Quality – or “Q” awards – are conferred to high-performing communities; employees receive special recognitions and can earn financial bonuses for their achievement.
Atria El Camino Gardens is a recent Q Award recipient, and members of its talented team answered questions about the workplace culture behind their success.
How did you feel when you first learned your team received a Q Award?
Kimberly Hagen, Senior Executive Director
This year, it felt particularly amazing. My department directors know my love language is communication, and that’s driven by our devotion to quality. I’m so proud of our directors and staff – some of whom have been here more than 20 years. Everybody came together and focused on the things we needed to do to win.
To what do you attribute your success?
Dedication and a lot of trust. I trust that my team is confident in their roles and has the ability to be proactive and communicate with one another.
Our motto is, “if you see something, say something.” Everyone takes responsibility for delivering the caliber of service our residents deserve and expect. We support each other and go the extra mile to help each other out.
What role does Life Guidance have in community operations?
Ingrid Weber, Life Guidance Director
Our department is entwined with every aspect of the community. We keep the same standard in each department because we recognize how we’re interconnected.
When each part of the team does things the right way and doesn’t cut corners, you don’t get anxious about winning a Q Award. The success flows from the culture you’ve established.
What does “belonging” mean to employees at Atria El Camino Gardens?
Patricia Garcia – Engage Life Director
It means everything – for employees and for residents. It’s important to wake up every day with purpose.
I lead a wonderful team. Employees come to work prepared and they’re very passionate about what they do. It’s not just about the Q Award – though the recognition is nice! More importantly, it’s about what that success means for the community, being a warm, welcoming place to live and work.
