There’s a delightful New Year’s Eve tradition common in Mexico and many Latin American countries. At midnight, people pack a suitcase with a few symbolic items and take it for a walk around their home or neighborhood.
The suitcase represents the journeys they hope to embark upon in the coming year, carrying with them a sense of hope and momentum for what lies ahead.
As we step into 2025, this tradition feels especially fitting for all of us at Atria Management Company. This year, we’re excited to launch Journeys, our new framework for career development.
Journeys is designed to guide employees through every stage of their career – ideally, “from hire to retire.” It’s our way of reinforcing that Atria is not just a workplace, but a place where people thrive.
Some parts of Journeys build on what we’re already doing well, while others – like Rise – introduce new tools to help you take your career to the next level. But at its core, Journeys is about providing clarity, transparency and structure for each employee, as well as ensuring you have the support necessary for success.
Let’s go through the four key phases of the program:
Origins
Every journey begins with a strong foundation. The Origins phase is designed for new hires, focusing on orientation, role-specific training, compliance and in-service requirements. It’s where you’ll build the knowledge and confidence to excel in your role. Think of Origins as packing a suitcase with everything you need to embark on your career at Atria.
Mastery
Once you’ve found your rhythm, it’s time to take the next step. The Mastery phase is open to all employees who want to deepen their expertise and plan for the future. With self-study tools, professional development sessions and courses available on Atria University, Mastery helps you sharpen your skills and explore what’s next.
Rise
For those preparing to lead, Rise offers tailored opportunities for aspiring managers, as well as more seasoned leaders who want a refresh or who haven’t had an opportunity to participate in formal leadership training.
This phase focuses on essential leadership skills like communication, team motivation and performance management. The resources available in the Rise phase equip the next generation of leaders to step confidently into a supervisory role. It unlocks your potential to inspire others.
Lead
The final phase, Lead, is for experienced leaders ready to elevate their impact. Through advanced mentorship, coaching and leadership development programs, Lead helps you refine your ability to guide teams, shape culture and make a lasting difference at Atria.
