At Atria, we value the contributions of all of our employees, which is why our employees consider us one of the best companies to work for in the senior living industry. We are immensely proud of the work our staff and caregivers perform every day for the wellbeing of the residents. Atria invests in its staff by offering financial benefits and perks, including competitive pay, comprehensive health plans, tuition reimbursement, and career advancement opportunities.

We also send out customer satisfaction surveys to residents, giving them a chance to recognize the top-notch staff members who make every Atria community feel like a family. Read on for an overview of the 2021 Exceeding Expectations Awards.

Customer Satisfaction Surveys rewards

Each community’s Executive Director presented the award to employees who were honored in front of residents and other staff members. The ceremony wouldn’t be complete without speeches, food and drinks – and a monetary reward given to those employees who have gone above and beyond in their Atria careers.

Helping our employees grow professionally and personally is vital to providing residents with outstanding service. Through support programs like the Exceeding Expectations Awards, we are committed to making Atria the preferred workplace for people with exceptional talents, creativity, and compassion. Meet some of the employees who took home this year’s Exceeding Expectations Awards.

Taylor Cooper, Engage Life Program Instructor

Seven years ago, Taylor’s neighbor worked as a chef at Atria Tanglewood in Lynbrook, New York, and thought that Taylor would be a stellar addition to the culinary team. Taylor started as a member of the waitstaff. After one year in culinary, she moved over to Engage Life – a department dedicated to providing residents with daily events and opportunities tailored to meet their particular interests. She has been there ever since.

“Engage Life helped me learn how to be more patient and considerate,” Taylor said. “I learn so much from the residents and my coworkers. Working at Atria Tanglewood has taught me a lot about myself. I learned that I love helping others.”

Jose Ramirez, Resident Service Supervisor

With parents, siblings, aunts, and uncles who have all worked in nursing, it only makes sense that Jose Ramirez would be drawn to the caring environment of the assisted living community at Atria Newport Beach. “It’s not just a job for me,” Jose has said about his role as the Resident Service Supervisor. “I also get to spend time with the residents as if they are part of my life.”

Jose has noticed that he’s grown during his time at Atria Newport Beach. “Working here has allowed me to improve my communication, problem-solving and leadership skills, which not only benefits me in the workplace, but has also shaped my character as a person.”

Ivan Rodriguez, Engage Life Program Instructor

Prior to accepting a position at Atria, Ivan Rodriguez worked at a movie theater, but it closed due to the pandemic. Ivan’s family encouraged him to apply for a position as an Engage Life Program Instructor at Atria Briarcliff Manor. They felt that it would be a good fit for him, since he went to school to become a teacher.

At first, Ivan felt a certain pressure to do a good job. He wanted the residents to like him and enjoy the programs he set up. After a year and a half at Atria Briarcliff Manor, Ivan believes that his position has changed him for the better. He is confident in his role and he has fallen in love with his Atria community – and the field of senior living.

“Coming to work doesn’t feel like work,” Ivan said. “I love that my director listens to my input on programming and allows me to have creative freedom. But the best thing about my position is interacting with the residents.”
