Turning Challenges into Opportunities
“Within every challenge lies opportunity,” says Kristy Grange, Senior Vice President of Holiday by Atria North. Earlier this year, when Holiday Hidden Lakes in Salem, Oregon, faced a sudden leadership vacancy, Kristy knew exactly who would view the situation with the same perspective.
Spotlight on Alison & Jeffery: Leadership in Action
“It’s not easy to step into a new senior living community and quickly establish trust, but we’re fortunate to have talented individuals who can do just that,” Kristy says.
Her first calls were to Alison Carey and Jeffery Angeles, experienced leaders in Atria’s portfolio with a track record for results. Alison, from Atria Sherbrooke Heights in Ontario, and Jeffery, from Amber Meadow in Manitoba, didn’t hesitate to take on the challenge. They quickly stepped into temporary leadership roles at Holiday Hidden Lakes.
“I said yes because I believe in what we offer and trust our vision for these communities,” Alison shares. “When I help another building, I think only in terms of what’s possible. I love seeing everything come together to make a fantastic, attractive, in-demand retirement community.”

The pair wasted no time diving into the work. As Kristy recalls, “Jeffery and Alison got to the building and assessed the needs of each department. They settled things down, got employees on board, and had the community back on solid footing in no time. It was incredible to watch.”
Jeffery shares similar sentiments, adding, “I trust the training I’ve received and feel prepared for these situations. We have an effective model for stability, and I’m always excited to share it across communities.”
Mentorship in Motion: Building Trust at Holiday Hidden Lakes
The teamwork didn’t stop there. Alison has continued mentoring Holiday Hidden Lakes’ new General Manager through weekly calls, ensuring a seamless transition for this Holiday independent living community.
A Model for Stability Across Senior Living Communities
Atria’s ability to mobilize talent and resources across its network is a defining strength. This collaborative culture not only tackles immediate challenges but also establishes a benchmark for excellence. Leaders like Alison and Jeffery exemplify this spirit of teamwork.
“When one community needs support, others rally,” Kristy says. “This cooperative culture is a cornerstone of what makes Atria a leader in senior living.”
